Aslan, a month in a cell in Turin. Nordio’s appeal: “No more mothers in prison.” Towards immediate transfer

The appeal to Nordio: “Enough with mothers in prison”. Towards immediate transfer.

It’s happening in the “Lorusso e Cotugno” prison, Grimaldi (Verdi): “The mother is terrified”. According to prison sources, “everything possible is being done” and the decision of the judicial authority is awaited.

The child could be moved to the nearby ICAM, the Institute for Attenuated Custody designed specifically for mothers. It’s an unacceptable situation that needs to be addressed immediately.

They are asking for help. Enough with mothers with such young children behind bars.

In theory, Grimaldi explains, the child should remain in prison until the magistrate’s pronouncement, “and this is unacceptable. Nordio must intervene as soon as possible”.

“That child, like all children of inmates, should not be behind bars,” emphasizes the Avs deputy. We ask the Government and the majority to reconsider their veto of the proposed law that provides for this in all Italian prisons.

In the same penitentiary, another woman is currently incarcerated with her 1 and 3-year-old children. It arrives in your inbox every day at 7 in the morning.
