Sanremo. We are on the eve of the long-awaited Italian Song Festival: from tomorrow, February 6th, until Saturday, February 10th, the thirty singers in the competition will take to the stage at the Ariston theater after months of preparation.
This “training” has also involved the presenters. Amadeus, for the fifth time as a host, will be supported by five top performers: Marco Mengoni on the opening night, singer Giorgia the following night, Teresa Mannino on Thursday, February 8th, Lorella Cuccarini on the 9th, and finally, Fiorello.
Amadeus, a tireless entertainer, is ready to face the imminent tour de force. He attributes his readiness, as he has stated many times, to his diet – strict but tasty.
With a passion for pasta, typical of a good Italian and a Sicilian, he loves it as a constant on the menu, as long as it’s not too salty. He pays close attention to his diet due to his health scare as a child, and this has influenced his choice of light and low-salt dishes, especially during the week of Sanremo.
To endure the five demanding days, the artists prepare themselves for a long time, including the host and co-hosts. Marco Mengoni’s relationship with food has been a means to overcome insecurities and loneliness.
In his adolescence, he suffered from overweight. Around the age of 20, he went from 105 kilograms to 65, thanks to healthier and more conscious eating habits and a more intimate relationship with himself.
Lorella Cuccarini, born in 1965, also had struggles with the wrong eating habits in the past. Now, she pays more attention to what is served at the table: a healthy and balanced diet with five meals a day and regular physical activity to stay in shape.
Similarly, Giorgia, who will turn 53 next April, dedicates a lot of attention to her workouts to stay energetic and spirited, supported by her partner, professional dancer Emanuel Lo. Teresa Mannino, a talented comedian from Palermo, has made the culinary differences between North and South her battleground.
Despite this, her relationship with food is balanced and, at fifty-three, she is proud of her changing body. Finally, the king of showmen, Fiorello, in the past, gained attention for a particular dietary regimen called “dinner cancelling,” which involves completely eliminating dinner and starting to eat in the early hours of the day, paying great attention to a balanced and abundant breakfast, then focusing on lunch and a snack, with no food after 5 pm, only water, sugar-free cleansing drinks, tea, and liquids rich in minerals and vitamins.
At 64, he cannot afford this, at least not this week. Sanremo will undoubtedly be a great arena…
