Facebook’s CEO Apologizes for Social Media’s Impact on Children: 5 Times He Had to Defend Himself (and Promise to Rectify His Mistakes)

From insults to users being called “stupid” to the Cambridge Analytica case. For the founder of Facebook, it’s not the first time he has had to defend himself in front of a wide audience.

“I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through. No one should have to endure the things that your families have suffered.”

Then it was the turn of the parents of the children who committed suicide following abuse or cyberbullying cases: in the courtroom, they showed photos of their missing children. “Their design choices, the failure to adequately invest in trust and security, their constant pursuit of *engagement* and profit above safety has put our children and grandchildren at risk.”
