There is the responsibility of the people who care for a sick or disabled family member, the so-called caregivers, and there should be an acknowledgment of the caregivers by institutions and civil society, which otherwise is uncivil. A true acknowledgment always comes from understanding the dimension and seriousness of the problems: understanding and “taking together” are essential in the economic policy choices necessary to preserve the collective wealth represented by our Health Service.
Understanding is a verb that is a prerequisite for the most important relationships, such as those between parents and children but also between those who care and those who are cared for, with an awareness of the new possibilities that medicine offers in the field of many pathologies, but also of its limitations. The fifth edition of The Time of Health, through its meetings and initiatives, aims to be an opportunity to address various issues from the perspective of understanding them in the best possible way, in order to make judgments and decisions informed by the humility of knowledge, which is nourished by culture.
